In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning
Jesus to Thee be all glory giv'n
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son of the Father,
full of grace and truth.
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing!
